Pacesetter Trials Buck Hill
December 20, 2011 |
The Pacesetter for each race will simply be someone participating in
the race that has achieved a pacesetting number at one of the
preseason pacesetting trials put on either by NASTAR or Ski Challenge.
We will attempt to have four or five racers in each race that carry a
pacesetting number. Racers who in past years have been consistently
fast and who have shown up at the majority of their scheduled races
will be invited to participate in trials and get a number.
At each Ski Challenge race, the pacesetter with the lowest "pacesetter
handicap" who has completed a run is
the first to be considered as the pacesetter. In some rare cases the fastest
racer with a pacesetting handicap may not be used. The objective
is to be as consistent as possible with handicaps. The racer whose number
is used for pacesetting will score points as reward for having his or
her time and handicap used for races throughout the season. Those
points can be used for purchasing Ski Challenge gear or getting a
discounted rate on the next season's race fees. This new system will
not affect the scoring system or the reporting of the scores to NASTAR,
it will simply make someone in the race the pacesetter and eliminate
the need for one person to make multiple runs until a useable time is
achieved on each course.
POINT SYSTEM
Attending pacesetter trials = 5 points
Having number used on one course for pacesetting = 1 point
Each point equivalent to a $5 value, can be used for race fees for
upcoming events or following seasons, or used for Ski Challenge gear.
Ski Challenge will keep track of points and post them online to see.
